There are new boat identification laws for the Auckland area

2.14 Vessels to be identified
1. The master and owner of a vessel shall ensure the vessel is marked with its name or similar identifying marks. This shall be displayed, on each side of the vessel. The number or name shall be a minimum height of 90 millimeters and each character shall be legible.
2. Clause 2.14.1 shall not apply to non-mechanically powered vessels of less than 6 meters in length. Such vessels should be marked with a name, or the owners name or contact details somewhere on the vessel.
3. Clause 2.14.1 shall not apply to mechanically power driven vessels of less than 4 meters in length. Such vessels should be marked with a name, or the owners name or contact details somewhere on the vessel.
Wow, I bet most boaties have no idea that there is a requirement!
